Utility Savings & Refund, LLC (US&R) announced today that a deadline has been set to submit damage claims under the El Paso Settlement. Many California businesses are eligible for refunds related to the California Energy Crisis, but they must apply by September 7, 2004 to collect their share of the $210 million award. Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) July 1, 2004 - Utility Savings & Refund, LLC (US&R) announced today that a deadline has been set to submit damage claims under the El Paso Settlement, and they also announced they were ready to meet that deadline of September 7, 2004. US&R has developed the "El Paso Refund Claim Service" to collect the damage awards that are available to commercial and industrial natural gas customers that were part of the "Non-Core" class during the energy crisis of 2000-2001.

The El Paso Settlement resolves a natural gas anti-trust class action between plaintiffs representing California business and residential users of natural gas and electricity and defendants El Paso Corporation, El Paso Natural Gas Co., and El Paso Merchant Energy, L.P. ("El Paso"). The settlement provides a total of $1.65 billion in relief to electricity and natural gas rate-payers in California. Included in the settlement is a $210 million cash refund for large natural gas customers - the Non-Core class. However, the court has now imposed a deadline of September 7, 2004 to apply for this refund.

US&R has been preparing for this deadline since the first of the year and many companies have signed-up for their services.
